Hats off to this terrific little chippy.!

Some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever tasted and probably the finest mushy peas you could ever eat! Accompanied by a bottomless, simply delicious, pot of tea. They even managed to provide as a special request a much preferred beautiful piece of cod without batter (although their own batter is fantastic and so crisp all the way through. We also noticed that for those people who do have a Gluten problem they can even offer a battered fish just for you. The service was a little slow due to the special order but boy, was it all worth waiting for!

10 out 10 to Scotts.

Just as good the second time! We returned to Helmsley for another event at the Arts Centre, accompanied this time by our daughter, and having extolled the virtues of this fine chippy, we felt obliged to drop in again for a meal before the performance. Delighted to report that it was every bit as good, with crisply battered, succulent and flavoursome haddock, crisp chips and mushy peas. Service was brisk and cheerful, and the servers took note of our need to depart in time for the performance. In fact we had time for a stroll round the centre of this delightful market town. Strongly recommended yet again. And for what it’s worth, my cousin, who’s been a Whitby resident all her adult life, also thinks that your food is better than Whitby’s two national award winners!

First class customer service…. I organised a coach trip for 49 to walk some of the Cleveland Way from Cayton Bay into Filey and we arranged to call at Scotts on the way home for fish and chips. We were all impressed with the warm welcome that we received on arrival. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the atmosphere is very friendly. Above all, the staff were all very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Whoever is reponsible for staff training should be highly commended. A very pleasant experience, we will come again.

Dear Kerry We would like to thank the Manager and all the staff who gave us such good service and attention when we came for a meal on Tuesday tea time. The whole group went away giving you all praises and saying they had never had such good fish and chips, they would recommend the restaurant to everyone they meet. We are looking forward to our next trip in June when we call in with the group again. Terry and myself are looking forward to seeing you this weekend and are recommending you to everyone.
