We are delighted to announce that Scotts of Helmsley has been awarded another Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor. This award recognises businesses that consistently earn top ratings from tourists.
Only 10% of businesses on Tripadvisor are eligible to receive the Excellence Award, so we are in good company. And this comes after earning the National Federation of Fish Friers Fish and Chip Quality Award – which puts us in the top 2.5 per cent of chippies in the country.
Our award hasn’t gone unnoticed – the local media has picked up the story.
Here’s the Yorkshire Business Daily:
With a total of 169 reviews, the chippie has been successfully ranked as one of the top three restaurants in popular market town. More than 80 per cent of the reviewers have “recommended” Scotts, with more than 110 foodies describing it as “excellent”.
A North Yorkshire fish & chips restaurant’s glowing customer comments have helped it pick up a top award from the world’s largest travel review website.

Scotts managing director Tony Webster said:
With this latest accolade you can say that Scotts really is ‘frying’ high!
“We are naturally delighted to have received this certificate from TripAdvisor and thank all our customers who taken the time and trouble to write about us.
This is a great achievement for us as only the top ten per cent of business on TripAdvisor are eligible to receive this award.
We have a great team at Scotts and this is a tribute to their hard work and effort since I took over the business just over a year ago.”
